Upcoming for Absolutehype

Posted by Paul 25/04/08 - View topic

Hey guys, we are pleased to announce the development of Absolutehype version #4 - a brand new look with new and improved features! The main site will play a bigger role with an all new tutorial and article database system where members will be able to add content directly to the main site, and Forum features such as the Gallery will return. Overall, we can guarantee that the new site will be a lot more useful than it is now.

Tutorials in image formats are awesome, but are not friendly with search engines and our tutorial system we have in mind. Therefore, with the new tutorial system in development, I encourage all members to create their tutorials in type with screenshots. This way, it will be much more user friendly and streamlined to link. Update: If you absolutely must make an image tutorial, please keep a document with the text!

In the mean time, Leo tells me that the next addition to the medals will be Contributor Medals - more on this later.

Medal System online

Posted by Leo 10/04/08 - View topic

The medal system is here and ready to go online. Medals will be awarded for various distinguished acts in the forum such as winning a Sig of the Week competition. Those of you who have won previous Sotw competitions will soon find a medal of a corresponding rank under your avatar and profile information. Find out more here.

The main page banner has also been updated to include important news segments. Click one of the circle buttons towards the bottom right to browse through them.

And for those of you who are wondering about the Medal system, it should be coming in the very near future.

We're back!

Posted by Leo 01/04/08 - View topic

We are happy to announce that we are back! As you may have noticed, Absolutehype.com has been temporarily down over the past week or two. We had issues concerning our domain host which has taken more time than we would have liked to resolve. Nevertheless, the whole site remains intact with all features such as the forum back online. So spread the news to existing members!

Sig of the Week, will resume as soon as possible. In the mean time, the long overdue results for Sotw #31 will be posted shortly.

Large Art of the Month - aborted

Posted by Leo 04/03/08 - View topic

It's a real shame but with such lack of interest, we have had no other option but to reluctantly abort Large Art of the Month until further notice. We have had to take such action as it seemed LAotM was largely ignored by the majority of the community with the exception of a few members. There was little, if none at all, topics or replies to any discussion relating to Large Art and frankly we are most disappointed. A lot of time and effort was spent into this project which is largely created for your benefit, and at the very least we expect some attention and keen enthusiasm. Nevertheless, we are determined that Large Art of the Month will return in the future in more favourable circumstances.

To end with a happy note, Sig of the Week continues onwards which I'm also happy to report is running strong reaching our 31st week. That's a possible total of over 70 weeks Sig of the Week has been running. Why not take a look at our Hall of Fame of past distinguished winners. Meanwhile, SotW #31 is still open in which you can view current entries here.
